The new St Wilfrid's Hospice

Work has started on the new Hospice which will be a modern, built for purpose building set in a beautifully landscaped location with various lovely garden spaces, plenty of parking and has space for further expansion if needed in the future. The new Hospice building will provide 20 private bedrooms with ensuite facilities for inpatients, double the number of beds we provide today at Mill Gap Road.

There will be extensive facilities for families and friends visiting inpatients including private accommodation and lounge facilities. Public areas separate from the in-patient unit will also be available including a coffee shop and a quiet chapel for reflection or prayer.

The well-being clinic, which will be available to both day and out patients, will have a physiotherapy gym, therapy and treatment rooms, a suite for creative and group activities and places that provide a relaxed setting to just sit and talk.

On the upper floor, we will have dedicated educational facilities for training other professionals in the care of the dying as well as office accommodation for our staff.

Work started in mid 2011 and construction is expected to finish in early 2013. Our ambition is to officially open the new hospice on November 28th 2013 which will be our 30th anniversary.

Watch our latest film (below) which offers a real insight into the building itself and provides an excellent feel of just what an impactful space it is going to be.
